JcWhitney Low Cost Boost Gauge Installation:
  • July 5, 2005:  The boost gauge was installed just over a week ago and
has been functioning well.  I'm still working on editing the installation
video but here are some pictures to hold you over.  You can see that the
boost gauge font closely matches the 9-2X gauge font but that the light is
significantly brighter than the stock gauge lights.  The boost gauge does
dim with the stock gauges but it is always brighter.  I will be adding a
voltage divider circuit to bring the gauge brightness down to match the
stock gauges better.  Although it seems that part of the stock gauges are
blocked by the boost gauge, the reality is that from the driver's seat all the
stock gauges are still entirely visible.

  • June 16, 2005:  The boost gauge has arrived.  The font and faceplate
don't look like the picture on the JC Whitney web page, but I'm glad.  It
has a more attractive font and faceplate that looks modern and more
closely matches the font in the 9-2X.  You can clearly tell it's an
inexpensive piece but hopefully it will be functional.  I will post pics later
    today.
  • June 7, 2005:  The boost gauge was ordered and should be arriving
within 10 days.  I will post installation pics and video shortly after it
arrives.  I plan to modify the gauge by adding a peak hold feature to make
it more useful.  Three aspects made this gage attractive:  low cost, it
reads only up to 20psi for better resolution, and others seem to be using
    it successfully.
